(Formerly known as Wonderwall's Oak Park Ukulele Meetup Group aka The Harrison Street Ukulele Players.)
Chicagoland's most 'seriously fun' Ukulele group!
We're on WGN TV 'Chicago's Very Own', Dec. 19, 2012! http://wgntv.com/2012/12/19/the-celebrated-and-festive-sound-of-ukulele/
We now meet once-a-month, the first Tuesday of each month, at The Tiki Terrace - Hawaiian Restaurant & Tiki Bar in Des Plaines! This is REAL Hawaiian hospitality, atmosphere and food! There's even a stage! The PERFECT venue for our Meetups and room to grow even more!
The holiday season is upon us! So we'll be playing some Christmas/Holiday music, even some in Hawaiian like "Silent Night". There will also be a nice mix of songs including some 3 & 4 chord ones, more Hawaiian (always), Beatles, other post-Beatles solo works, Tin Pan Alley and more!
Thanks for the memories! It was a great pleasure and honor to have started it all there in Oak Park. Since our inception in 2008, after 5+ years of meeting at Eastgate Cafe in Oak Park EVERY Thursday night (7-9 PM except when a major holiday fell on Thursdays: i.e. Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.), we moved at the end of September 2013. We started a good thing in Oak Park 'all those years ago', on 'George' Harrison Street (as WXRT Terri Hemmert always said about us), brought LOTS of folks together, had great fun times, numerous parties, theme nights, newspaper, TV and radio exposure! Now, onto spreading more Ukulele joy around Chicagoland!
