(Formerly known as Wonderwall's Oak Park Ukulele Meetup Group aka The Harrison Street Ukulele Players.) We're on WGN TV 'Chicago's Very Own', Dec. 19, 2012! http://wgntv.com/2012/12/19/the-celebrated-and-festive-sound-of-ukulele/
This is Wonderwall's north side Ukulele group in Chicagoland!
Founded in 2008 and led by Honolulu native, GiGi Wong-Monaco, co-owner of Wonderwall Music Shoppe. This Uke group meets once-a-month on the first Tuesday of each month, at The Tiki Terrace - Hawaiian Restaurant & Tiki Bar in Des Plaines! This is REAL Hawaiian hospitality, atmosphere and food. The PERFECT venue for our Meetups and room to grow even more.
Tiki Terrace is a popular venue for visiting artists from Hawai'i. Past artists include Jake Shimabukuro, Herb Ohta, Jr, Aldrine Guerrero, and more.
We play Hawaiian, Beatles, Tin Pan Alley, oldies and some current songs too.
All current members, please bring all your (new and old) song booklets. Extras will be on hand for 'malihinis' (newcomers).
Upon arriving to Tiki Terrace, find a table to sit and come to the front table to Sign-In and take a copy of whatever song booklets are there. Donation basket on table.
Note: Tiki Terrace is generous to allow our group to meet there. So please return the courtesy by ordering a drink or food item.
