A Taster Evening of Fortified Wines at The Bull Inn Woodbridge

A Taster Evening of Fortified Wines Following a short summer break - Woodbridge Wine Club is back! By popular demand, we present an evening of sumptuous fortified wines that will be expertly discussed by our very own wine guru Helen Duddridge. On arrival, you will enjoy a Nuy Red Muskadel Spritzer. This is something of a Cape classic that wins acclaim with every vintage. When everyone has assembled, we shall proceed with the main event: Compare and contrast two superb wines:- Valdespino is one the the finest small producers of Sherry and we have one of their best - the Manzanilla 'Deliciosa' En Rama Pago de Miraflores. Enjoy this sherry and compare with a Madeira from one of the island's oldest producer - Justino; selected by Sommelier Wine Awards as the Fortified Wine Producer in 2015. On show, is Justino's ten-year old Sercial. The second course is another compare and contrast round with two absolutely outstanding wines:- First, we have the Olorosa 'Solera 1842' VOS; another sherry from Valdespino that won Gold at the Sommelier Wine Awards in 2018. In comparison, is a personal favourite, a twenty-year old Tawny Port from Offley - an eponymous London wine merchant that has been importing from the Douro for over 250 years. These wines will be served with a small selection of Tapas and breads. To finish we have another two absolute classics:- First up is another Gold Medal Sherry from Valdespino - the "Pedroz Ximenez 'El Candado". Our final selection is a 1999 Vintage Port from Sandeman - you will be partying like a Prince after tasting this one! These final wines will be served with a Suffolk Cheese Board. Prices are £35 per person - numbers are strictly limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. To book, please call The Bull on[masked]. If you can't make the event, I hope you will be able to make a Wine Masterclass with Matt Thomson from New Zealand and the wine maker from Blank Canvas. This will be held on Wednesday October 9th. Cheers David.
