(In the past a few folks have arrived with no machine, but still had great conversation, took copious notes, and left inspired.) // FAQs • Is this a place to talk about my services and products I sell? Nope! We're just here to help each other. • Will there be food and/or drink? Only what you bring! • Is this group right for me? This group is for everyone. • Podcast With WordPress For (Almost) Free

    Shoreline Community Church

One of the beautiful things about podcasts is they are by and large freely accessible for listeners. But you don't have to spend much (if anything) as a creator either. If you're *at all* interested in the idea of sharing audio of any kind with subscribers, or if you've had clients ask you how to get a podcast setup, come join us for a quick chat about making that happen. WordPress, with a few extra tools, is a cheap (and even free) platform for running a podcast. We'll run through the the basics of what you need to get going — we'll even get you in the iTunes podcast directory! AFTERWARDS we'll have some time for general WordPress Q&A. // FAQs • Is this a place to talk about my services and products I sell? Nope! We're just here to help each other. • Will there be food and/or drink? Only what you bring! • Is this group right for me? This group is for everyone. • Inclusive Content Strategy

    Shoreline Community Church

This month AmyJune Hineline joins us to discuss Inclusive Content Strategy. Inclusivity is at the heart of an effective content strategy. The accessible code may be imperative for inclusion, but all the code in the world doesn’t do any good if the content is not meaningful to our readers. In this session, we’ll go over what we can do as content authors to ensure our readers feel that we are speaking with them, not at them. We’ll look beyond the semantic markup and structured content to see the strategic value of inclusive, well-written content. // Discussion points will include: • What makes content inclusive? Including definitions, clarifications, and real-life examples • Why is inclusive language important? • How we can embrace accessibility for those with every sort of ability - Why awareness and acceptance isn’t enough — how to shift to being more process oriented Along with awareness, there is acceptance and action... // About AmyJune AmyJune Hineline has been an active participant in the Open Source community for over 3 years. A self-described "non-coder", she has been a top 20 contributor to the Drupal project two years in a row. She is an active organizer of the A11yTalks meet-up and is passionate about accessible and inclusive information for all. // FAQs • Is this a place to talk about my services and products I sell?
