How to find us

Look for double doors with a 'GW' sign outside between the Golden Star pub on the corner and Heart radio. Inside is a reception and the room should be sign-posted. The nearest parking is St Andrew's car park on Duke Street.

Details

This is the second in a new and hopefully ongoing series of monthly meetups - a chance for anyone interested in making and using WordPress to meet like-minded people for some informal and friendly discussion.

Schedule:

1) Refreshments and informal chat/networking

2) Opening remarks and WordPress news

3) ## Discussion and Workshop: "Think Local" ##

Please bring a laptop to this event if you can. If you can't bring a laptop you should still be able to participate in the discussions and collaborate with others.

We will look at the different ways that you can install a local version of WordPress on your computer and the many reasons why you might want to do this.

The Workshop will likely be split into beginner and advanced groups: we will be covering tools such as Local by Flywheel, DesktopServer, MAMP and more advanced set-ups such as Vagrant and Docker.

If you already know how to use these tools, please come along so you can help out and discuss the relative merits of different approaches - you might even be tempted to change your workflow!

There's also a good chance that the beta of WordPress 5.0 will be out by the time of this meetup so this would be an excellent opportunity to take it for a test drive locally and raise any questions you have about theme and plugin compatibility.

This meetup is sponsored by local design and marketing agency, Creative Sponge. I will be looking for additional sponsors in future so please let me know if you're interested.
