In this talk Ricky will show us 10 things that should not be done with your WordPress site, some for SEO reasons, others for performance, a few for security, and a couple are just plain good sense.

This month's topic will be presented by Ricky Blacker from WP Engine.

The agenda will be similar to previous events:

6:30pm - 7:00pm: Networking & pizza/drinks (Thanks Sponsors!)
7:00pm - 7:05pm: Introductions & Housekeeping
7:05pm - 7:25pm: Presentation
7:30pm - 8:00pm: Q&A with the expert panel

Refreshments are provided by our ongoing sponsor WP Engine, and our June drinks sponsor House Digital. The fabulous venue where our events are held is the (newly renovated!) Riff Town Hall that is generously provided to us free of charge by Spacecubed.

--- About the Presenter ---

Ricky is a self taught web professional who found and fell in love with WordPress, and the community behind it while looking for a CMS platform to build websites for clients.

He originally started his own web design business after being made redundant from a factory job in 2013, but now works for WP Engine as a Pre Sales Engineer, providing a Digital Experience Platform for WordPress user around the world.

He is a Co-Organizer for the Sunshine Coast & Brisbane WordPress Meetup Groups, as well as the Brisbane Web Design Meetup group, and was one of the amazing team who put together the Sunshine Coast WordCamp in 2016 and WordCamp Brisbane in 2017/2018, and has spoken at WordCamps in Australia and New Zealand.

Ricky is very passionate about building the WordPress community and helping others to learn how to use WordPress and what it can do.

--- Volunteers Wanted! ---

We are submitting an application to host WordCamp Perth in 2020 and we need dedicated volunteers to make this happen. If you are passionate about WordPress why not consider joining our organising committee? Have a say in what topics we choose for meetups, and reap the rewards of all the positive karma you'll gain from helping make Perth's first ever WordCamp a reality.
