Welcome back!

WordPress RI Meetups are held consistently on the 2nd Tuesday of every month. Keep up with the latest on Twitter - @WordPressRI

WordPress Rhode Island welcomes developer Chris Ferdinandi joining us for a talk on how to ditch jQuery and code with vanilla JavaScript! We'll get started at 6:00PM with light refreshments and networking, followed by the presentation at 7:00 - See you there!

Modern JavaScript and browser APIs are as easy to use as jQuery and provide the same cross-browser compatibility. Learn vanilla JavaScript and level-up as a web developer.

In this talk, you'll learn:

• How jQuery impacts performance.

• How to easily ensure cross-browser compatibility. How to write accessible scripts.

• Modern vanilla JavaScript equivalents of common jQuery APIs.

• How to debug your code when things aren’t working.

• How to put it all together and create vanilla JavaScript projects.

Chris Ferdinandi helps people ditch jQuery for vanilla JavaScript. He loves pirates, puppies, and Pixar movies, and lives near horse farms in rural Massachusetts. He runs Go Make Things with Bailey Puppy, a lab-mix from Tennessee.

It was a great meetup. Looking forward to the next one. Recommended idea: Front end layout for a better blogsite v. website. There's lots of material on the net but what works well in WordPress?
