Life can throw us a curveball and we find ourselves up against an uphill battle to restore a sense of balance and centredness. The suffering is always a process of growth; it asks us to shed something away, but that is not an easy task all alone by one individual. As a 'village' is needed to raise a child, so a group is needed to support the healing and growth through difficult times.
Using Leia Francisco's "Writing Through Transitions" for six weekly sessions, we will journal our journey exploring and experiencing how writing can be an invaluable support in these difficult time. (Please note that sharing optional - we respect privacy and choice to share or not share). The intention is to create a supportive and non-judgmental space with full confidentiality, utmost trust in each other so we can empower ourselves to rise strong again.
Other supportive works may also be shared for additional resources such as Brene Brown's work "Rising Strong" and Shinzen Yonge's Working with Difficult Emotions, Tara Brach's mindfulness works as foundational practices for healing and alleviation of suffering.
It must be noted that This group is not a therapy group though coming together in a compassionate and non-judgmental environment to share our experiences in the spirit of support is therapeutic. However, such work may bring up difficult emotions to the surface. In the cases when the professional help is deemed necessary, you are urged to find professional therapy resources. Working through transitions and changes in life sometime requires compassionate and open hearted support of others, especially when those transitions are difficult and heartbreakingly painful. At those times we need to find ways to cultivate resilience, courage and strength and to bring peace in our hearts and ease in our life.
We will explore resources to work together by discussions, writing practice and other mindfulness ways to develop our innate capacity to rise strong through transitions and difficult times.
The core work will be based on Leia Francisco's "Writing Through Transitions". We will read and discuss the work, and then write or express verbally about our journey (sharing is optional - we respect privacy and choice to share or not share). The feedback will be provided only with resonance and compassion. The intention is to create a supportive and non-judgmental space with full confidentiality, utmost trust in each other so we can empower ourselves to rise strong and resilient. In tandem, we may discuss some other works such as Brene Brown's work "Rising Strong" to deepen our understanding of transition processes.
