An Introduction to Green Jobs

An Introduction to Green Jobs The term "Green Jobs" is everywhere these days. During the presidential election, the stimulus debate and the budget discussions, "Green Jobs" kept popping up. Many of our members have expressed interest in pursuing a green job, but there is a lot of confusion about what this term really means. Who is qualified for a green job? What kind of work would you do? How much do they pay? Where do I find them? To help beginners get answers to their questions about green jobs, CarbonfreeDC is hosting
"An Introduction to Green Jobs" on June 22nd at 6:30pm at Ebenezers Coffeehouse (201 F St. NE) on Capitol Hill. Anca Novacovici, founder of Eco-Coach and a green jobs expert, will give a presentation and answer your questions about green jobs. Anca has literally written the book on green jobs and is working with Washington businesses to develop a green job training program in DC.

I found many of the ideas presented to be helpful, so it was worth my time to attend. I didn't make as many personal contacts as I probably should have (my problem), but I have already revised my resume because of ideas from the meeting, and I'll explore some of the Web sites that were mentioned. I may also volunteer for the CarbonfreeDC proposed activity on making homes in DC more energy efficient.

The question and answer session after the presentation was incredibly valuable. I think everyone left feeling like they had more information and ideas than they could handle. Anca did a great job.

I thought it was a great opportunity. The speaker was helpful and many of the people there were able to give information to each other.

Ms. Anca Novacovici was a super speaker. She took a very holistic approach to the subject, presenting the issue in terms of a broad notion of vocation that a person needs to construe through a decorous combination of passion and intellect. This was time well spent, both as regards the speaker and the attendees. The discussion after Ms. Novacovici's presentation was very productive as well.
