Meet the presenters who will help you start a green team at work!

A Green Team is an informal or formal group of co-workers that finds ways to green their workplace. On February 26, CarbonfreeDC presents three experienced panelists who will tell you how to get your Green Team off the ground and convince your CEO to go along!

  • Hermione Phillips - LEED-Accredited Property Manager, World Wildlife Fund: As the Facilities Manager of World Wildlife Fund, Hermione Phillips manages all building operations at the environmental organization's U.S. headquarters building in Washington, D.C. In addition to providing financial and leadership support to WWF's executive team, she oversees the institution of successful recycling programs, the purchase of sustainable office supplies and 100 percent renewable energy offsets for building, among other projects.

    An accredited professional in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), Hermione is leading efforts to green the building's roof and obtain LEED certification for the building. Her work also includes running the "Green Team," a collaborative group of WWF employees who brainstorm additional greening activities at the organization.

    Before joining WWF in August 2004, she worked in the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer at the U.S. House of Representatives. Originally from California, Hermione studied at Sonoma State University and currently resides in Waldorf, Maryland. As a mother of two and military spouse, she is a strong advocate for realistic efficiency.

  • Mary Lynn Wilhere - Program Analyst, District Department of the Environment: Mary Lynn Wilhere serves as the business outreach person for the Office of the Director in Washington, D.C.

    Mary Lynn has worked for more than twenty years in the environmental field?seven years with an environmental/economic consulting firm and fourteen years with environmental non-profit organizations. Prior to joining DDOE, she worked for as business outreach coordinator for the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay and the Chesapeake Bay Program.

    Mary Lynn holds a business degree from Georgetown University and a master's degree in Environmental Management and Policy from the University of Pittsburgh; she has also completed extensive graduate work at Johns Hopkins University in environmental science.

  • Kristen Klick White - Associate, Arnold & Porter, LLP: Kristen Klick White is an associate in the environmental practice group of Arnold & Porter, LLP. Kristen's practice focuses primarily on environmental litigation and regulatory compliance counseling under federal environmental statutes, such as CERCLA, RCRA, the Clean Air Act and EPCRA, as well as advising clients on state regulatory programs and environmental auditing policies.

    Kristen serves on Arnold & Porter's Green Office Team and has taken a leadership role in developing and implementing the firm's resource conservation and environmental policy and practices.

    Kristen graduated with honors from the University of Maryland School of Law and clerked for the Honorable Beth P. Gesner, United States Magistrate Judge for the District of Maryland. Prior to attending law school, Kristen was a newspaper reporter in Pennsylvania and Maryland.
