FREE Creative Writing Workshop

Monday, Jan. 13, 7:30-9pm  7:30pm SHARP

This is a stand alone workshop as well as an introduction to our method.

with Write Yourself Free Workshop Leader, Patrick McCord, PhD

Write Yourself Free

252 Post Road East

Westport, CT [masked]

Space is limited. Must RSVP. Please email [masked]

The Write Yourself Free(SM) Method of instruction demystifies language arts, freeing each writer's intuition, and stimulating the creative process.  (And have a heck of a lot of fun too!)Please bring paper and pen.

"I joined Patrick's regular writing workshop about a year ago. I had a vague idea for a book I but since it was vague I began by just writing personal essay pieces. The combination of Patrick's illuminating and educational exercises that begin each class, and his insightful, often brilliant, positive critique of my writing moved me to create an altogether different book. In my opinion, there is no finer teacher and editor than Patrick. And the range of classes Write Yourself Free offers means there's something for everyone, no matter where they are in the process of writing." Susie Bedsow Horgan, Emmy-Winning Writer & Producer

More About Patrick

Patrick is a fugitive from Hollywood where he learned that his talents were more analytical than presentational. He then went back to school to get his PhD and wrote his dissertation on Cognitive Narratology in Film and Literature. Patrick’s most recent editing project was for the bestselling book, Empty Mansions by Pulitizer prize-winner, Bill Dedman. As a university professor, Patrick was invited to present a paper on mirror neurons and affect relations, “How the Spectator Feels the Character,” at the prestigious Society for Cinema and Media Studies International Conference in London. Patrick has taught screenwriting at two universities and at The Beyond Baroque Foundation in Los Angeles. Before getting his PhD, Patrick sold screenplays as well as teleplays. He is an award-winning poet and published short story author. Before launching his own writing career, he worked in project development at both NY’s Circle in the Square and LA’s Mark Taper Forum. Patrick was honored to win the prestigious Mitchell Marcus Award in 1991. He is currently Editor-in-Chief of The Editing Company and creator of the Write Yourself Free(SM) method and been teaching in Westport since 2007. His students are already publishing and winning literary prizes.

I've been actively involved with Meet Write in the Southern Florida- Palm Beach, Boynton Beach area all winter. I'll be returning to NY in early April and would love to join the conversation and the workshops and meetings.

Great. But it was my workshop! After debriefing Patrick, he said that all you writers went away happy and inspired. He really is an amazing teacher. So glad you all came.

I'm sorry to cancel so late, but my son came home with a fever. I'm so disappointed. I hope everyone enjoys their "creative" time.

I'm so sorry but I won't be able to make the workshop tomorrow anymore. I managed to sprain my ankle this weekend and need to stay off of my foot. :( I will keep my eye out for your next workshop!
