Writing without Workshops is a group for all types of writers. This is a space and time to connect with other writers and to dedicate an hour or two each week to writing!
Why is it taking so long for my request to join to be approved?
The group is capped at 50 members to keep down costs and to encourage active membership. If someone hasn't been active in two months, they are removed from the group and one of the pending members is added!
This Meetup Group seems eerily familiar, why is that?
This group was inspired by the original, Phoenix-based, Writing Without Workshops, which I attended while living in Tempe. I strongly recommend joining that group if you spend time in the Phoenix area.
How much does it cost?
At the moment nothing, but please considering chipping in to help defray Meetup costs (they charge for organizing groups). Some special events, however, may have an outside fee.
Who can join?
Anyone over the age of 21 because our writing is often not suitable for children and events may include alcohol.
I don't want to share my work with the group, I just want to allot time to write. Is that OK?
Yes, that's why this group was created!
Are you opposed to workshops?
We're not opposed, but workshops can be daunting or discouraging for new writers. We like encouragement and support and creating a time and space to write.
Where do you meet?
We'll be in public spaces, for the most part--cafes and bars. We will generally be sticking to the central Tucson.
What if I haven't published anything? What if I'm not writing a book, but a [blog, dissertation, article, etc]?
