  • Discussing Philosophy: Marx and Marxism.

    Colorado Center Community Room

We live in Capitalist Society that promoted the concept of Capitalism Around the World. I grew Up in the Soviet Union. And even though I was the only one in my generation not to join the Communist Youth and was ostracized for being a "REFUSNIK", before leaving the USSR I had a moment of self realization, that I can live according to the Marxist Principles in the Economically More Evolved West. Marxism is a dialectic Philosophy and not a Dogma. I taught Western Civilization at Cal State Northridge and developed the Marxist Conceptualization of Historiography.

  • Kabbalah Lecture - Perceiving Reality

    Kabbalah Bnei Baruch Study Center

Join us for a casual evening of discussions, Q&A, and lively workshops with other like minded seekers guided by experienced Kabbalah teachers. FREE INTRODUCTORY KABBALAH LECTURE Topic: Perception of Reality What does it mean to experience reality? Our five senses receive some external stimulus and pass it to the brain, where it is processed into our picture of the world. Yet science has proven that there is more than the eye can see, than the ear can hear, and the mind can fathom. Much more! So what is reality, really? How can we truly study it? Should we even bother asking these questions, or do we have the power to control it? The science of Kabbalah might offer some insights that will change the way you see life. Come and experience for yourself. • Gain insight about receiving the abundance around you • Understand how to perceive a whole new reality outside of our senses • Experience the power of connection through discussion circles Kabbalah is the science that explores man's origins, his purpose in life and the method of achieving a perception of reality beyond the five senses of the body. While dealing with elements currently beyond our perception, it is actually a very practical methodology that can be implemented here and now.

  • Movie Night: NO ASYLUM: The Untold Chapter of Anne Frank's Story.

WITH Q&A with director & filmmakers following 7:10pm show. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TY7etxqmSuY This film has a limited one week run. Yes, . . .it's not your average fare. But it's also a story to honor and remember. And for a Jewish Meetup, . . . a definite! This is the LA Theatrical Premiere of the chilling and timely documentary film, NO ASYLUM: The Untold Chapter of Anne Frank's Story. This is a thoughtful and sensitive historical remembrance. NO ASYLUM brings to light a new chapter in the well-known story of Anne Frank's short life. We learn of her father Otto Frank's desperate and failed attempts to gain visas and refugee status for his family. The story is an outstanding educational resource, adding new details to Holocaust history. It is also a cautionary tale that has relevance in today's world of increasing anti-semitism and intolerance and political climate. It is running for one week at Laemmle Music Hall. August 19-25. Now to the less serious stuff. This is placed on Sat Eve as there is the Shabbat Eve at Ahavat Torah on Fri. If Fri is better for you, . . .then post a note in the messages and see if someone will join you. And the same for the other dates. ShowTime: 7:10pm (daily @ 12:10pm, 2:20pm, 4:40pm, 7:10pm & 9:30pm) Q&A with director & filmmakers following 7:10pm show. RSVP here and we will see you there. If you want to avoid a line.
