Nestling in the mountainous Russian region of Siberia, north of the Mongolian border, it is the ancient deepest and most voluminous lake on earth. This giant lake is surrounded by desolated wilderness with dramatic scenery that long captured Russian’s hearts and minds; and with its unique flora and fauna and fascinating local culture, Siberia's sacred sea is well worth the journey. Most lakes are less than 20,000 years old -- Baikal is at least 25 million years old, UNESCO referred to the lake as the 'Galapagos of Russia'. • Pelepah Falls + Durians! 8 June 2019

    Needs a location

Cost: TBC **$5 off EACH, for a group of 4 or more!!! Pelepah Falls, made up of multiple series of cascades and waterfalls, is a less commercialized waterfall located just beside the popular Kota Tinggi Waterfalls, 56km north of Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The hike is fairly pleasant with the trail following the path of the stream. Most of the time we will be either crossing or trekking along small streams where water level can reach up to waist level. The main challenge of the trek is the slippery rocks and a few steep sections where participants will need to scramble up a slab of rock wall with the help from fixed ropes. Upon reaching the main cascade, we will rest for lunch and have a dip in one of the clear and cooling pool. This trip may be postponed on a heavy rain day as the river stream may swell up unexpectedly with fast current flow and potential of flash flood after a heavy rainfall. All proceeds of YMCA Outdoor and Adventure trips goes to support the charitable works of YMCA of Singapore.
