Here are some more details of our speakers & performers:

Stewart Stephenson - Bio:

A pioneering self-taught artist, Stewart Stephenson began his art career at an early age, creating large-scale sculptural works incorporating industrial and recycled materials.Today he specializes in abstract paintings known widely for their unique compositions, vibrant colors, and flawless resin finishes. Stewart is one of Canada's best-selling artists and his world renowned paintings can be found in private and corporate collections around the globe, as well as at the award-winning Stewart Stephenson Modern Art Gallery in Vancouver, BC.

Stewart has captured the attention of collectors and art lovers everywhere with paintings that are unlike any other contemporary works. Often working intuitively and with no prior sketch work, Stewart's paintings are expressive and bold. Strong, powerful brushstrokes, fine lines and experimental mark-making highlight Stephenson's versatility as an artist. With subject matter ranging from abstract to landscape to figurative, Stewart Stephenson's creations offer a sensory experience; a colourful amalgamation of the artist's perception, experimentation, and original style

John Chow - Bio:

Ariane Colenbrander - Bio:

Creative director/writer/editor/photographer Ariane Colenbrander has enjoyed a successful career in communication design for over two decades and this year, she’ll graduate with a copy editing certificate from Vancouver’s Simon Fraser University. Her background and skills are extensive and cover a wide range of industries and work environments. Ariane’s lived and worked in three countries so far. This lends to many stories and experiences – the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Ariane’s photographic eye, keen pulse on Vancouver, and wandering curiosity provide online magazine Vancouverscape with a wealth of stories and features that reach a wide audience. Daily blogging, photography, and attending events while maintaining a work-life balance in a (very much non-9-to-5) busy world has been put to the test this past year with a cancer scare. Come and hear how blogging did in fact keep Ariane focused on getting well through modern medicine.

Anika Venkatesh - Bio:

Anika is a 13-year old musician from Coquitlam, BC. She first started taking an interest in music when she was 3 years old, while listening to the songs on the radio, and being able to memorize all the lyrics and sing along to each one. Not only does she sing, but she also plays the piano and the trumpet, and is beginning to teach herself guitar.

Anika sings mainly of the jazz, pop, and indie-rock genres, but enjoys singing and performing wide variety of different music styles. She composes original songs, and is currently in the RCM (Royal Conservatory of Music) Level 5 in voice, and is taking her next exam to move onto Level 7 in May. Since 2012, she has participated in different competitions, such as the Coquitlam District Music Festival (CDMF), the Vancouver X-Mas Factor Singing Competition, and is participating the CDMF competitions again in April 2014.

You can watch some of Anika's music on her You Tube Channel:

He was a stringer for Maclean's Magazine and Western Living Magazine. In Asia he shot for the South China Morning Post and many other business publications.

Now Bob is shooting Vancouver's street people and giving them B&W prints as a way to build a unique portfolio and give something special to people on the edge. Bob has been in the communication business for over 35 years and specializes in marketing ideas and strategy, design, podcasting and photography. He is actively involved with the art scene in Vancouver and Asia.

Dr. Dionne Laslo-Baker is more than just your average mom. As a medical scientist with a PhD from the University of Toronto, she spent years studying how the environment and the food we consume impact our health and wellness. During her Masters degree training, Dionne was named Humanitarian of the Year at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. She is widely published in medical literature and has taught courses in human anatomy and physiology at both the University of Toronto and Dalhousie University.

A couple of years ago she founded TeaPops over a casual conversation with her kids. TeaPops had their official Canadian Launch Party last week. Dionne will be sharing about the history and vision of TeaPops as well as giving out samples to all of our attendees. For more info about Dionne and TeaPops, check out her website Deebee's Organics!
