    ----- DESCRIPTION ----- 

    • This lesson is for Level 1, BEGINNER- and Level 2, NOVICE-level cross country skiers (i.e. new to the sport or little experience) to introduce the fundamental techniques of cross country skiing.

    • For Level 3, INTERMEDIATE (DECEMBER), click here.

    • QUESTIONS?  Email xc @ CalgarySkiClub.org.  Do NOT post your questions on Meetup because the organizer may not see those questions.

    • This cross country ski Lesson #1 is part of Calgary Ski Club's WinterStart weekend (click link).  Members and non-members are welcome to participate in this lesson.

    • Options for the weekend!  This is the Saturday offering of Lesson #1.  There is also another offering on the next morning: Sunday, December 4, 2016 (click link).  Attend EITHER the Saturday or Sunday lesson.

    • Options for December!  You can take this lesson on its own, or continue on with Lessons #2 and #3 (click link) as part of the December 3-lesson program.


    ----- DIRECTIONS -----

    Driving Directions: Click here for driving map from Lake Louise Inn in the Lake Louise village to the Great Divide trailhead.  On the map, click on point "B" and then select Street View to see a summer scene of the trailhead.

    Meeting Location:

      • Great Divide trailhead, located on the right-hand side on the way up to the Lake Louise Chateau from the village.

    ----- TIME -----

     • 12:40 AM – Leave Lake Louise Inn (IF applicable)

     • 12:50 AM – Arrive at the trailhead, prepare your skis and adjust your clothing

    • 1:00 PM – ** On snow and ready to start the lesson **

    • 2:30 PM or 3:00 PM – Finish the lesson (1.5 to 2-hour duration, depending on how the group feels)

    • This lesson is for adults.  Email xc @ CalgarySkiClub.org to first check if you can bring children or youth, BEFORE you register.

    • Maximum group size: 8 participants

    • Equipment Rentals: Not included with the lesson. Click for a list of rental shops, including Wilson Mountain Sports in Samson Mall in Lake Louise village.  If you rent at Wilson's then you can more easily exchange equipment that does not fit you, than if you rent in the city.  Phone Wilson's to reserve some equipment before going to Lake Louise.  "Waxless" skis are suggested for new skiers.

    Non-members: $30 - Please call the Calgary Ski Club office at 403 -282 -4122 to provide the following information for this event:

    (e) and also email a copy of your completed CSC waiver (pages 2 and 4) to office @ CalgarySkiClub.org

    Carpooling: If you plan to carpool, please coordinate this amongst the other attendees.  The instructor will already be at the trail.

    Carpool Departure Time: 10:40 AM, from Calgary

    ----- CANCELLATION -----

    • CSC reserves the right to alter the schedule depending on registration levels, weather, and availability of coaches.

    • Lesson will be cancelled or rescheduled if the temperature is -20 C or colder , including wind chill.
