Description: Cross country ski or snow shoe from Lake Louise ski resort Temple Lodge through mountain valleys and over Deception Pass to Skoki Lodge. Overnight on Friday, March 8, Saturday March9, return on Sunday, March 10. Jim P will be leading this trip. Check out Skoki at http://www.skoki.com/
This is an intermediate/advanced level trip requiring a good level of physical fitness and an ability to sustain a moderate to fast pace for 4-5 hours, for two days, with a rest day between.
Group car pools to Samson Mall, Lake Louise to sign Lake Louse waivers between 9 and 10 am, Friday March 8, then drive to parking lot just before Lake Louise ski resort. Shuttle takes you to back side of Lake Louise for a short ski to Temple Lodge. Ski to half way hut for lunch, then up and over Deception Pass. Afternoon tea awaits at Skoki lodge, where you can rest by the fire before a 7 pm gourmet meal is served by candles and lamp light. Accommodations are in cabin and lodge rooms, 2-3 persons, sharing. Breakfast and bag lunch for the ski out back over Deception Pass to Temple Lodge, where you catch a ski lift up the mountain, ride a gondola down to main lodge, then a magic carpet ride in kids' zone takes you to trail for a short ski back to parking lot.

Height Gain: 500 meters in, 300 meters out
Maximum Elevation: 8,200 feet

Meeting Time and Place: Please arrive no later than 6:45 a.m., in the northeast corner of the Edworthy Parking Lot, to arrange carpooling as we will be departing at 7:00 a.m. sharp.
Driving Distance: Approximately 2 Hours / 175 Kilometers one way. The Club suggests a compensation of $0.06 cents per kilometer both ways for the driver(s) of the carpools. (Approximately $20.00)
Notice of Cancellation: Participants are asked to contact the trip leader if they have a change of plans.
What to Bring: back country skiis, skins or snow shoes, camera, light backpack with change of clothes, toiletries, headlamp etc.
Participation is restricted to members, sorry no guests. No dogs allowed.
Please note again this not a beginner trip, participants must be fit and competent in backcountry skiing or snowshoeing, able to sustain a brisk pace in potentially difficult or dangerous conditions, and have a history of participating cooperatively in a group setting, willing and able to stick with the group as required by conditions we may encounter.
