Learn to Knit Series

  • December 3 · 11:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Whether you've never held a pair of knitting needles or you want to up your game, this is the class for you! Cast on or off, knit, purl, cables, knitting in the round, read a pattern, create mittens, hats, etc. Kat can help you out and you'll get some socializing in too! Kat is keeping the class size small so everyone gets individual attention for where ever you are in the knitting journey.

After you you RSVP, message Kat with where you're at so she can give you guidance on any materials you might need!

There is a $8.00 cash fee payable at time of the lesson.  There a minimum attendance of 2 people (beside Kat).  If we don't have at least two people signed up 48 hours prior to the class, the class will be cancelled.

We are aiming to hold this series on the 1st Saturday of every month.

We'll be in the Study Room.  It's the small room off to the left in the main library area.  Ask for the Study Room, not the knitting group- the librarians don't usually know why I reserve the room!!!

Ok ladies, just another quick reminder to make sure you have supplies, worsted weight variegated yarn and size 8 needles! Also, when you arrive, ask for the study room! See you later!

Be sure to write here or message me with what you want to learn (from the start or something specific) so I can let you know what supplies to bring!

I am new to knitting and would like to learn the basics. What do I need to bring?

Ok, I recommend size 8 straight needles and worsted weight yarn. It'll be helpful for you if you get variegated yarn in lighter shade. Dark yarn is hard to see stitches! You can get wood or metal needles and unfortunately it's hard to say what's better until we know what kind of knitter you are. Wood grips the yarn a bit more and metal more slidey. If you really are struggling its worth trying the other kind!
