What we're about

This group is for anyone who is interested in yoga inspired hiking trips in the beautiful Adirondack Park, Catskill Mountains and surrounding areas of Upstate New York. Each trip is organized and facilitated by Yoga Adirondacks, and is a unique combination of yoga asana (poses/stretching), hiking and trail skills, guided mindfulness activities, breathing techniques, and more. Each participant is provided with a complete ultralight hiking (or backpacking) kit (backpack, hydration bladder, headlamp, first aid kit, etc.) including a travel yoga mat and props for use during the trip. We aim to offer opportunities in nature that are balanced in skill, safety, comfort, relaxation, fun, and presence, all while connecting with like-minded individuals also on the path of yoga, hiking, or both. This group is open to all levels including people who have never tried yoga or hiking to those who are advanced. True Home at Huckleberry Point in the Catskills - Moderate

Let’s visit Huckleberry Point in the Catskills! This trip boasts a great forest setting with spectacular views and many open rock spots to do yoga! About 4.5 miles round trip with a 644 foot elevation gain, it's not so steep, but on the lengthier side which makes us call this a Moderate level trip. We’ll start with a warm-up and breathing exercise, then hike in taking several breaks for activities and to enjoy the surrounding nature. There will be an extended break for lunch, photos, relaxation, more yoga, and a meditation. We'll enjoy our hike down and cap the trip with a restorative yoga session and fresh air savasana. Every participant will be equipped for the day with a backpack including hiking essentials and ultralight travel mat. Let's get into nature and back to our true home. This event will be facilitated by Ann Marie Costanza who has completed the Appalachian Trail, is certified in First Aid and CPR, and is a Registered Yoga Teacher - 500 and NYS Licensed Guide. This trip includes instruction in multiple aspects of yoga, hiking, and use of technical gear, as well as rental of an ultralight backpack setup including hydration bladder, headlamp, first aid kit, travel yoga mat, props, and more. Let’s bring our studio practice outdoors to North Point in the Catskills, a gorgeous trail with a breathtaking summit and plenty of scenic views! This is an Easy/Moderate level, 3-mile hike with some steeper sections and includes yoga flows, other aspects of yoga, mindfulness activities, several breaks, and time for snacks, photos, journaling, and taking in the beauty and scenery of the outdoors. Come enjoy a mindful and revitalizing experience in nature with us! Hike-In Lean-To Camping with a Challenging High Peak!

Develop your back country edge by staying out overnight in a lean-to several miles into the woods and hiking up the high peak of Big Slide Mountain. This hike is 10+/- miles over the 2 days and is rated as Hard due to its distance, 3100+ foot gain in elevation, and having to carry an overnight pack for about 6 of 10 miles. Receive instruction on hiking, gear, cooking, low impact methods, and bear safety. Yoga flow, restorative yoga, and many other yoga and trail activities will be offered. Fitness, endurance, prior hiking experience, or having taken one of our day trips is recommended. Be prepared to call on your inner warrior! All essential gear is provided for use during the trip including ultralight backpack, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, headlamp, hydration bladder, bear canister, and much more. Come experience an overnight in the great outdoors with us! This event will be facilitated by Mel Brust who is an ADK 46er, is certified in Wilderness First Aid and CPR, and is a Registered Yoga Teacher - 500 and NYS Licensed Guide.
