Meditation & Yoga Philosophy - for current students only
This class is for those who have come to at least one meditation class with us before and would like to learn more about yoga meditation and yoga philosophy. This is a great opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of who we are and what our purpose is in life and to ask those questions that you have never found the answers to. There is never a charge for any of our meditation classes, but donations are gratefully accepted to help us cover our costs. RSVP is appreciated! NEWCOMERS: If you have never taken any of our meditation classes before, please come to one of our other meditation classes first before attending this one. Those classes are Meditation Instruction and Deep Peace Meditation. Our website has more information and a calendar, and you can check our MeetUp calendar too. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us either through MeetUp or directly by phone, text, or email. Our contact information is below. Thank you! Namaste. What we're about

The Austin Yoga Meditation Group is founded for the purpose and goal of bringing every person to enlightenment.

We come to this point by practicing meditation daily and understanding our position and function in this world. Once our intelligence has become purified, by meditation, we can gradually begin to see this world for what it is and how to live in it peacefully and truly satisfied.

Yoga Meditation (also called mantra meditation) is the practice of focusing one's attention on transcendental sound vibration. "Man" means mind, and "Tra" means to draw away from. So the word "mantra" means to draw the mind away from the temporary world (characterized by constant change and often full of stress and anxiety) and place it on the permanent, where the mind can rest and we can find lasting peace and fulfillment. Focusing the mind on meditation sound (or mantra) will naturally calm the mind, relieve anxiety, and bring us to the point of enlightenment.

In these meditation group meetings, we practice three simple and effective mantra meditation techniques. The first involves the breath and will relax and rejuvenate you. The second includes meditation beads and encourages the mind to rest in the peaceful sound of the mantra. The third technique uses music and is very effective and enjoyable.

Those who are new to meditation, current practitioners of meditation, or those who have practiced meditation in the past are all welcome to come. These classes are open to all who are wanting more from life.

My husband and I started this group because we want to give back what we have been given. We've been practicing yoga meditation for over 35 years, and it has brought us joy, inner peace, knowledge, and a tool we can take with us wherever we go that we can use to calm the mind and go within.

All meditation classes are free of charge and are offered several times a week at Haven House in NW Austin as well as at some branch libraries in Austin.
