What we're about

Welcome! We have reopened and are offering a few in-person classes and events. We hope to be adding more soon!

NOTE: We do not require masks in our classes. We believe it is important to be able to breathe freely while practicing yoga meditation, asana, and relaxation. Classes will be limited in size to allow for distancing as needed. Reservations are required ahead of time to help us manage class size. If you are not comfortable with this, we have audio classes you can practice with (just ask).

If you'd like to receive our emails, you can contact us by email or phone/text:

Below is a description of what we do. We hope to meet you soon! Namaste.

The Austin Yoga Meditation Group is dedicated to teaching yoga in all its aspects to all ages. The word "yoga" means to "link up" or "connect"; we get the English word "yoke" from the word yoga. It is this connection that we are all looking for to find fulfillment, to understand who we are and what our purpose is, and to live in a place of lasting peace and permanence within us, untouched by the temporary, changing, uncertain world around us. Meditation is often called the heart of yoga since this is where that connection happens. The techniques are simple and enjoyable. Even children can learn and practice daily. It's also free because it belongs to all of us already.

In our meditation classes, we practice three techniques using breathing, beads, and music. All are welcome, whether you are new to meditation, currently do meditation on your own, or have done meditation in the past.

All meditation classes are free of charge and are held at our location in NW Austin (13740 Research Blvd, Bldg T, Unit 3, Austin, 78750). We also offer classes in yoga asana and yoga nidra (yoga exercise and relaxation).

Please visit our website for more information. You can also follow us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Sound Cloud, and YouTube. If you'd like to be on our email list, just send us an email (see below).

Namaste.

Yoga Philosophy & Meditation

Yoga Meditation Group

NOTE: We do not require masks. We believe it is important to be able to breathe freely while practicing meditation. If you are not comfortable with this, we have links we can send you that may be helpful in practicing at home.

This is a weekly class focused on yoga philosophy, which is timeless knowledge and wisdom that has been passed down for centuries and is meant to help us understand who we are, why we are here, and the purpose of our lives. The class will start and end with meditation (three techniques of yoga meditation - with breath, with beads, with music) and will include a lecture on various topics that relate to meditation and spiritual understanding.

PRE-REQUISITE: We highly recommend that you attend our Monday or Thursday meditation class before coming to these classes so that you can learn the meditation techniques and start practicing on your own. This class does not teach the techniques. It is also more conducive to spiritual understanding to be practicing meditation regularly on your own.

RSVP is required: through Meetup or by email, text, or phone.

Yoga Asana is the physical practice of yoga that includes exercises, breathing, and relaxation. The purpose of Yoga Asana isn't fitness. It is, in part, to take care of the body as our vehicle; and although this may include fitness, it should never be defined by it. Yoga Asana practice gives us the opportunity to become aware of the body and the life force within the body, helping us to experience that we are not the body but rather the eternal being within the body who needs fulfillment on a level that the body cannot satisfy. This experience can then lead us to the deeper yoga practices, which are centered around meditation (the heart of yoga) and spiritual inquiry about our eternal identity and purpose. All of our meditation classes are free and are listed here on Meetup. Let us know if you have any questions. Namaste.
