The class, taught by long time tai chi practitioner Michael, will be divided into two 45 minute segments: Chi Gong followed by the practice of Tai Chi form. For beginners to advanced, classes are on going and students new to the practice are always welcome. Tai chi has been described as "moving meditation", we will focus on two types of practices: Chi Gong is 'stillness looking for motion' and Tai Chi is an example of 'motion looking for stillness'. Wear comfortable clothing, socks or cloth sole shoes for indoor use, (no every day shoes in the studio please.) Class is broken down into two 45 minute sections, the fee is $10 per class OR $15 for both classes. Must Love Cats
My modality is to nourish the system though yoga principles using gentle postures, deep relaxing breath, warming tea, salt lamp therapy, essential oils and of course my kitty companions who practice with us in the studio. Joining in the mindful meditative quality of this practice helps to slow the nervous system allowing us to dive deep into our bodies, minds, and hearts and heal mental, emotional and physical past traumas. Enjoy the gentle vibrations of mantra and relax with ease with safe and respectful yoga massage. This is a relaxing class with soft and subtle transitions. A non-aerobic class designed for all, bring props- pillows & blankets (limited supply onsite). Wheelchair accessible. $10 per person Must love cats
Join meditation practitioner Michael for this intro class. Donations only. Free to the public. Anapana is the first step in the practice of Vipassana meditation. Anapana means observation of natural, normal respiration, as it comes in and as it goes out. It is an easy to learn, objective and scientific technique that helps develop concentration of the mind. Observation of the breath is the ideal object for meditation because it is always available and it is completely non-sectarian. Anapana is very different from techniques that are based on the artificial regulation of breath. There are no rites or rituals involved in the practice or presentation of Anapana. Anapana provides a tool to deal with the fears, anxieties and pressures across all age groups, especially children. Besides helping to calm and concentrate the mind, Anapana help people to understand themselves better and gives them an insight into the workings of their own minds. Because of its simplicity, the technique is easy to understand and practice.
