Ukrainian cooking day!

  • Oct 5, 2013 · 5:00 PM

After much anticipation, we would like to host a full day( really, a whole day experience!) in learning to cook Ukrainian food. We will make homemade perogies, cabbage rolls and homemade braided bread. We will enjoy a potluck lunch ( please bring an item to share), then continue with the cooking in the afternoon before sharing an awesome meal with everyone and with everything we cooked and baked ( and wine of course). We will also provide sausage and salad to go along with our Ukrainian items. It's an extremely fun hands on day of trying ethnic cooking. Due to space restrictions, we are limiting this event to 6 couples. We will send you our address a couple days before the event ( Port Moody). You are welcome to take home some of the food we prepare. Looking forward to a great day!

We have decided to cancel the cooking portion of the day, but we would still like to have everyone over for a potluck dinner and games! We will provide meat ( Ukrainian sausages), unless anyone has any specific vegetarian or other requests. We would ask that you each bring an item to share at dinner, and a game or 2 if you'd like. Come over army time around 5pm. Address will be provided on Friday. Please let us know if you are able to attend, and what you would like to bring for the potluck!

Thanks! We hope to reschedule the Ukrainian cooking for another day sometime later in the fall.

Hi guys, Unfortunately, we won't be able to make it on Saturday. I have a lot of work to get done this weekend (1L year!), and the travel time to Port Moody will take a lot out of the day. However, I look forward to hopefully being able to attend whenever you do the actual Ukrainian cooking day.

Hi everyone, due to lower than anticipated attendance, we would like to see what people would like to do, considering there will only be 3 couples ( 6 people) for the cooking. It would be ALOT of work for 6 people to prepare perogies, cabbage rolls and bread... So, we have some proposals:
    1. Postpone the event to a later date, in the hope that more people are interested/ can attend.
    2. Go ahead with the cooking day, but only make 1 or maybe 2 items instead of all 3.We still ask that you bring an item or 2 for potluck lunch.
    3. Still get together, but later in the day, and do something other than cooking. Can you please let us know your preference by this Tuesday, as well as your preference for the items to cook ( perogies, bread, cabbage rolls). Thanks!

We vote for postponing the event to give a chance for more people to make time to attend.

Just noticed the location is Port Moody. Unfortunately we don't have a way to get out there so I've had to change our RSVP :( Hope you all have a great time. I love Ukrainian food!

Where would you be coming from? There's transit nearby.

South Vancouver (pretty much Richmond). When I type in "Port Moody", Google maps says it will take 2 hours. I don't think either of us will be prepared to make that long of a trek on Saturday since all week long we are travelling in Ontario. I'm worried we wouldn't have a chance to pick up anything for the pot luck either since we aren't back in Vancouver until Tuesday.

What a great idea for an event though. I hope we can make it if you ever host another like it.

We are limiting this event to 5 couples, as we can only acoomodate so many people in our kitchen! Look forward to seeing you all!
