Indoor Rock Climbing at Stoneworks

Hello Gals,

Since there was so much interest (and a long waitlist) for the Rock Climbing Meetup in January, I wanted to create another event in February so that you would still have another opportunity to try this activity.

This time, I am hoping to get a group rate at Stoneworks, which means we must go on a Saturday or Sunday morning. I randomly chose Sunday, but can change that if people prefer it. For me to schedule this meetup, at least 10 people must RSVP by Sunday, February 10 (one week in advance). I will delete this event from the meetup calendar if we don't get enough RSVPs.

02/10/13 Update: I just confirmed our reservation! The reservation is under "Christine Romano". All climbers will need to fill out a liability waiver. To save time next Sunday, you can download and complete that waiver here: http://belay.com/waiver/ Anyone under 18 years of age will need their parents to complete the waiver. If you'd like to belay, you will need to get belay checked by Stoneworks staff.

Hope to see you there!

If any questions arise next Sunday, my cell phone number is[masked] 6855.

-- Christine

I just cross-listed this event with the Portland Women's Outdoor Club: http://www.meetup.com/Portland-Womens-Outdoor-Club/events/100071432/ If you're a member of both groups, you only need to RSVP once.

ATTENDANCE POLICY: The cost of this event will be $10 per person. If you are unable to attend, please cancel your RSVP prior to February 10. After February 10, the event host will schedule the group session with Stoneworks. To do so, she must place a deposit (from her own finances!) in order to reserve the climbing gym. I am counting on meetup members coming to this event to reimburse me for this deposit. I will mark you as a no-show if you RSVP and don't attend, and I may cancel your RSVP if you try to attend a similar event in the future.

SAFETY DISCLAIMER: PARTICIPATE AT YOUR OWN RISK. The Event Host is a volunteer. She has organized this group outing, but assumes no liability for your safety during this activity. This event is intended to be beginner-friendly, but rock climbing can be strenuous for anyone. Please be prepared. Stoneworks will probably also make you sign a liability waiver. In case of accident, illness, or other incapacity, participants must pay for their own medical expenses, whether or not the participant has specifically authorized them.

I'll be driving to Stoneworks from Hillsboro, and I pass by several Beaverton-area MAX stations along my way. Let me know if you would like to carpool and/or would like a ride from a MAX station. I don't want transit opportunities to prohibit anyone from attending.

I did climbing for a while a few years back, and got into it enough to get my own gear. This will be the first time I've been in quite a while. I figured I could offer my extra gear to help someone avoid the rental fees. :)

They have all the gear (shoes and harness) to rent if you need. l I think it may be a little extra to rent but I can't remember (it's been a while since I've been). This should be fun!

Do we have to bring special shoes and a harness? I have never done this before but I am super excited!

I have an extra harness as well as a second pair of shoes... need to steal my chalk bag back from a friend. Look forward to seeing you all!

I haven't attended a meetup in forever but this year's resolution is to meet more people! And I love rock climbing but don't do it often enough.
