What we're about

I started Young at Heart Afro-Caribbean Elders in order to connect my outgoing, charismatic, vibrant mother with like-minded people of a similar age and background in the London area, i.e. 65 - 85, Black African/Caribbean.

The idea of the group is to link lonely or isolated elderly people who are keen to meet, connect with and hopefully develop great friendships with people aged 65+ from a similar cultural background and age. Events such as bingo, dance, trips to the seaside, holidays, days out, fun activities, social events or even just a good old fashioned chat and cup of tea will initially be held TWICE A MONTH ON A SATURDAY within the North/North West London area. Tea and biscuits to be served and the odd slice of cake :) Once a month Special guest speakers will be invited to inspire, motivate and energise all group members!!

Please note that Young at Heart Afro-Caribbean Elders is not just going to be an online forum that requires minimum participation, the whole idea is to establish a face-to-face, interactive, engaging, fun, relaxed, positive and upbeat group membership for elderly people which will contribute towards improving quality of life, reducing any feelings of loneliness and introducing each other to new friends.

A small fee of £5 will be required to cover refreshments and the cost of hiring a Centre.

If you are interested or would like to introduce your elderly parents to the Group then I would love to hear from you, come along and join the Party! The more the merrier.

I look forward to meeting you all :) !!!!
