Kayak Rock Springs Run

Launch from King's Landing (Rock Springs) to Wekiva Island for an 8.5-mile kayak trip downstream, about a 4-hour trip.

Our last time there, we saw: alligator, otter, deer, and a snake.. Many turtles and Fish of course too..

Wekiva Island has food, beer, wine, and soda (or pop for those that prefer) but bring snacks and water for the trip.

Suggestions of items to bring:

• CASH • Water • Snacks/Lunch • Dry bag • Swimsuit and towel • Bug spray and sunscreen • Binoculars • Camera If using your own boat:

-$10 launch fee

-$10 shuttle fee

Their rates for rentals are as follows
http://kingslandingfl.com/rates/

I would suggest finding a partner to share if you want to cut down on expenses.

A fun run! Plenty of wildlife, and nice shallow areas to stop in. Also some winding paths to navigate.

Hope you all had a great time. I had a race scheduled but will be on the lookout for the next one. I have a kayak and frequent the spring runs.

If anyone is interested I'm coming from Winter Haven with my own yak. I have a truck with bars so I can transport ~5 kayaks and 2.5 people safely. If anyone wants to carpool or use me for a shuttle on the river, let me know.

Im at wekiva island....parked in the back near where we end.

I just want to re-emphasize that this is a cash only facility. They have an atm on site but it has limited dependability. Also I was at wekiva springs yesterday and there were lots of bugs of the biting variety. .. if you're predisposed to bites like I am. .. bring bug spray

Looking forward to meeting you also, Jason. I've met about half the people on the RSVP list and they're all awesome, so you picked a good event.

    Mike
I see that i have been confirmed. But do you know with whom i will be sharing the kayak or the canoe? Or we will figure out at the venue when everyone meet?

    March 21, 2014

    • maha

Coordinate kayak/canoe sharing on here prior to the event. As others may want their own or have other plans.

    2 · February 2, 2014

    • laura

fyi- they do not have 3 seater kayak's, just 3 seater canoes, so you know what to expect...

      March 19, 2014

    • rajesh

Lizzy are you renting a kayak or canoe? Seems only Canoes are 3 seater, but not kayaks

Hey there. Is the limit due to available vessels? I've got my own.

    February 11, 2014

    • Mike!

Hey, Jason. The original creator of this event wanted to keep it from getting too big, so we capped it at 20. People tend to drop out at the last minute, so there's a good chance there will be room for you. On that note, if it turns out that someone isn't able to make it, change your RSVP to make room for Jason and others on the waitlist.

      February 11, 2014

  • Lizzy B.

I know it says there is only one spot left, but my husband and I will be in the same kayak? Does this count? :))

    February 3, 2014

    • Mike!

Sorry, Elizabeth. Just saw this message. If you both are sharing a kayak, you should be good.
