Launching the user group with Pieter Hintjens

We will launch the London 0MQ User Group with Pieter Hintjens talking about the mindboggling awesomeness of Zero. Pieter, the author of the forthcoming O'Reilly book on 0MQ and one of the founders of the project, will explain the basics of this connectivity library: what problems it solves and how it works. As a use case he'll take the software built for Obama's re-election campaign, which could "constantly query thousands of nodes for near real-time statistics and feed them right back into the alerting and monitoring system".

Thanks to everybody who came along. I know the admin side of it was a bit rough around the edges - it was all on short notice, and the main room was already booked. Things can only get better on that end!

The video is now up at

Please take a minute to fill in a 6 question one page survey regarding the group's next steps:

Poor audio; I felt the night could have been much more. Whilst a coherent speaker, not an engaging one.

Just posted the following to TLPG (, hopefully lots of Pythonistas will be there to show their support : )

    Hi All,

The good folks from Salt Stack ( are in town this week. Salt uses Python and ZeroMQ but rather than try and organise a (last minute) Python meetup around this, we thought it would be nice to support the ZeroMQ community who are having their first meetup this Wednesday. It looks like it's going to be a good one, with a talk from Pieter Hintjens.

    Details here:
