Off-Blockchain Scaling: Duplex Micropayment Channels - Dr. Christian Decker, ETH

A Fast and Scalable Payment Network with Bitcoin Duplex Micropayment Channels

Bitcoin does not scale, because its synchronization mechanism, the blockchain, limits the maximum rate of transactions the network can process. However, using off-blockchain transactions it is possible to create long-lived channels over which an arbitrary number of transfers
can be processed locally between two users, without any burden to the Bitcoin network. These channels may form a network of payment service providers (PSPs). Payments can be routed between any two users in real time, without any confirmation delay. More information can be found in his paper:

Dr. Christian Decker is a researcher from the Distributed Computing Group at ETH Zurich.

He wrote various papers on Bitcoin, Bittorrent and other types of distributed networks (http://www.disco.ethz.ch/members/cdecker.html).

Hi Lucas, I noticed the donation address was removed:

I'd like to contribute, but want to confirm it is still okay? Thanks.

Two take aways - 1) key mgmt seems like a "big deal" and 2) duplex micropayment channels need routing protocols :) :) [3) I'll be helping organise a bitcoin/blockchain/crypto thing END.MAY BEGIN.JUNE in Brugg, Aargau at the Technopark] that's three things

Don't forget to answer the question when you RSVP so it's easier to plan for me, thanks! :)

Zentrum Karl der Grosse has space for up to 120 people, so I'll see where we go afterwards. If we aren't too many it would be Schoffel yes, since it's close :)

Cancel or move would make sense probably. Sorry I had to take the day that works regarding the room, speaker and my own schedule
