Needs a location
The hike would be to do a scenic hike towards the Furkapass (2400 meters), i.e. where the canton Valais and Uri come together. The Furka is a historic pass and got more renowned after a James Bond movie was filmed here. Rather than taking the scenic train, we will hike towards the top.
We will start in Oberwald (1400 meters), and go via Gere (1563 meters), Firbach (2329 meters), Hochplatten (2523 meter) towards Furkapass (2407 meters). The hike is 5 to 5,5 hours and is 14 kilometer long with 1,000 meters height meter. The hike is technically not difficult and can be done by most people, though if you never do sports I would not recommend a 1,000 meter altitude difference hike.
At the top of the Furka we can take the bus back at 17.55 pm to Andermatt (arrival around 18.40 pm) and then take the train back to Zurich. We would leave Andermatt at 18.48pm arrive in Goschenen around 19.03, depart Goschenen at 19.08 arrive in Arth Goldau at 20.06, leave Arth Goldau at 20.19 to arrive in Zurich around 20.45pm.
I suggest we have a picnic lunch around 12.30 / 1pm so please bring some food along. We can have 4pm tea and cookies in the restaurant at Furkapass.
We will take the first train departing Zurich at 7.31 am arriving in Goschenen at 9.01 am, departing Goschenen at 9.13 am arriving in Oberwald at 10.10 am.
To bring along
# good mood, smile, laughter
# sturdy shoes
# water, drinks and picnic food
# raingear (weather in the mountains can change anytime)
In case it rains cats and dogs, then this hike will not take place. By wednesday evening I should be able to confirm whether the hike takes place or not.
