Hi everyone,

Here goes a cool activity that only few knows: Via Ferrata. According to Wikipedia this is "a mountain route which is equipped with fixed cables, stemples, ladders, and bridges". In practical terms, this means its a level between hiking and climbing. And we will do this in the beautifull area of M?rren in the Berner Oberland. Sounds fantastic, no? You don't need climbing experience, and I guess you all have climbed ladders before, but of course, you will need to be "schwindelfrei" (transl. free of dizzyness) specially when being in altitude.

We will use a guide from the Swiss Alpine Guides to help us out on this. Specifically we will hike, climb down (yes...down) and enjoy the "via ferrata" from M?rren to Grimmelwald. At the end of a 2.2km trail and 300m further down, we will enjoy by crossing the lovely "Nepalbr?cke", a 80 meter long of hanging bridge (see picture). During the whole time, we will have the great view of the the 4000 meter high mountains surrounding the area.

The actual climb down takes about 3 hours, which adds up to the safety lectures we will get.

The price of the guide service is CHF 125 per person. This includes all the material for climbing (helmets, safety belts, climbing tools and mountain shoes specially for these types of climbs).

To bring along:
- Picknick and water
- warm clothes
- Sunglasses, sun lotion
- Camera

Our train schedule is as following:

Z?rich HB ab 09:32 Gleis 17 IC 716
Bern an 10:29 Gleis 4

Bern ab 10:35 Gleis 3 IC 1067
Interlaken Ost an 11:28 Gleis 5

Duration : 1:56 hrs.

For those coming per car, you have to go the highway Bern-Thun-Spiez-Interlaken with EXIT Nr. 25 Grindelwald Lauterbrunnen. We will meet on the Station "Interlaken Ost" by the latest on 12 O'Clock, the time we will be picked up by the Swiss Alpine Guides.

There are only space for 15 people. For logistical reason, I will only set up this event without the possibility of RSVP "Maybe". Please sign up with "Yes" and then please confirm your status 2 days before the event. This case, you will give the chance for another person to take your place.

Please also check the status of this event the day before in case I have to postpone for weather reasons.

I will reserve a Groupticket to get more discount on this day. For this I need the following information from you:
- Are you coming from Z?rich HB (groupticket is only valid from this station) ?
- Do you have a Halbtax, GA or "None"?

If you are on the waiting list or haven't RVSP yet on the Friday 28th and you still want to come, please give me a call at[masked] to see if there is an opening, as there are always no-shows.

That is all for now. Hope to see you there!
