2016/10 - Practical tools for Web content accessibility testing - a11yMTL Meetup

There isn't a single tool that can tell you if your site is accessible, but evaluation tools can go a long way in helping find accessibility issues that would otherwise go unnoticed. To help find such issues, accessibility experts rely on a variety of browser extensions, bookmarklets and assistive technologies, such as screen readers and screen magnification software. If you’re looking for an introduction to popular accessibility testing tools, be sure to attend our meetup on October 18th. The meetup will begin with 3 to 4 presentations of 15 to 20 minutes, followed by a lively discussion with participants. Looking forward to seeing you there!

As a reminder, the entire slide deck is available here: http://bit.ly/2e4QpsH - I haven't had a chance to make it an accessible PDF yet, but I will update the upload as I get to it. It usually is before the meetup, but I ran out of time so I will just need a couple of days this time.

In the meantime, please let me know if this is an issue for you, and we'll work out a solution to make it better. :)

    Some more detailed directions:

Stairs: the door in front of the small square located at 490 de la Gauchetière Ouest. Here's a picture of the entrance: http://d.pr/i/1aWVr

Elevators and escalators: located on the main hall of the Tour Aimia building. These can be accessed on the corners of "Côte du Beaver Hall" with "de la Gauchetière" or "Avenue Viger O", the later with escalators to the main hall. On the main hall, you'll find elevators that you can take to access the 3rd floor.

That'd be 525 Ave Viger Ouest.

      Oubedon 525 Viger ave West

      October 18

    • Arthur G.

Yeah, it's one of the two entrances, Nicolas! The 490 is the door that leads to the stairs, while 525, which has 2 entrances, will lead to escalators (if you use the Viger O entrance) that will take you to the hall, which has the elevators. Don't hesitate to ping me or Denis for any help you may need.

Hi Arthur, thanks. I pondered posting an EN version of my note and looked at the attendee list and made the, perhaps erroneous, assumption that all would be French speaking :)

    • Denis B.

We'll have a few folks who only speak English, but yes, most are French speaking or at least can understand both languages. My guesstimate is that about 1/5 speak English and may not understand French all that well. As usual, we'll adapt. :)

And for the lang"EN" among us, what Nic's initial post said pretty much comes down to "Don't pay attention to the service dog! He's working, has some form of canine ADD & can be easily distracted! Look! Another human!" :)
