Our presentation lineup (to date ... in no particular order):

Temporary Disabilities: Every Day struggles caused by poor design and development
Presenter: Theodore Huff

The premise is that there are real-world problems caused for people of all backgrounds that can be solved or accounted for by using good Accessibility practices. I’ll provide some examples and then help provide some ways to spin the conversation for how to sell it to someone who doesn’t really understand the topic.

Theodore ‘Teddy’ Huff is a consultant and accessibility advocate for Accenture Interactive. Over the last 5 years, he has worked with financial, health, and consumer good companies to deliver projects in Angular, Backbone and React. He’s heard opinions from all angles on accessibility from these clients. This presentation discusses some of the techniques used to convince even the most opposed opinion that accessibility is necessary and worth the investment.

Accessibly Embedding Media (or how to add google maps to your website without failing conformance)
Presenter: Santina Croniser

Santina will demonstrate how to correctly add tags in order to embed media accessibly. Specifically, I will use typical Google Maps embed code and I will demonstrate both basic and advanced accessibility solutions.

Santina is a web developer with over 10 years of experience. She's in usability, marketing design, cybersecurity, information systems, and technical writing. By day she serves as Promet Source’s lead Digital Accessibility Consultant. In her personal life, she bridges her technical skills with welding, woodworking, sewing, electronic hardware/wiring, and CNC machinery, often terrorizing her partner with continued home IoT automation.

Accessible By Default - The Layered Workflow
Presenter: Melanie Sumner

Melanie is a Vice President of Global Technology and Accessibility SME at JPMorgan Chase & Co. She's the organizer of the Ember Chicago Meetup and team member of ember-a11y. A decorated Military Veteran (USN), Melanie loves all Final Fantasy video games.
