What NOT to expect: We want to clarify what you should NOT EXPECT at this community event because there may only have a few ACIM people attending at any specific month . This is NOT for people who ONLY want to meet with ACIM people. If you do NOT like to meet people of diverse backgrounds for networking conversations over lunch, then this is NOT the Meetup for you. If you are looking for a "bring your ACIM book and let's take turn reading the passages" this event is NOT what you are looking for. Some churches may offer the traditional study group format you prefer. We do not study the ACIM book at the community event.
WHY do we include a ACIM Meetup group in a general community networking event that aims to bridge cultural, digital, generational and other divides? One reason is because this is the only time we co-organizers have to meet in person or online once a month and we did NOT want to exclude ACIM and spiritual people from the event. We have a lot to offer ACIM students however not everybody is coachable or ready to receive. After we meet in person at this event, we can then talk on phone or by email to explore possibilities and determine whether a win-win-win mutually beneficial suitable situation exists. This is an experiment or adventure.
After COVID, if we have In-person location, we usualy meet at One Fish Two Fish Restaurant at 2423 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, DC 20037 near Foggy Bottom GWU (George Wash. University) Metro stop, and DC Circulator stop at 24th and K Street NW, Wash. DC 20037. Some 30 buses stop at 25 and Penn. Ave. NW, DC. Online we meet at 1pm on third Sundays via zoom.com.
EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED!
NOTE: The third Sunday series of events are NOT in a typical study groups format, they are networking opportunities to connect in person with teachers and students of A Course In Miracles and with other spiritual aspirants as well as with people of diverse backgrounds in the Washington D.C. area community. The 3rd Sunday events are part of an innovative approach to studying/practicing the principles of ACIM. Our program includes monthly community networking events to personally meet A Course In Miracles ("acim") teachers/students and others to share and to get to know each others perspectives and experiences better. Then we could do daily or periodic online followup in Chatzy or through customized coaching arrangements.
We do not bring ACIM book to study at this face-to-face events. However, those who mention they are from ACIM meetup group, may sit with others ACIM teachers and get to know each other face to face. Once you meet the participants in person, you'll be able to connect the name and the face when you go online. This is an opportunity to perceive everybody as friends and allies and to practice forgiveness if anything or anyone does not meet your expectations. As you know, you and only you are responsible for your own expectations. We hope you will come with an intention to enjoy a happy experience, no matter what, accept "what is" and notice your "self-talk" "narrative" about "what is." We can assure you the event will most likely NOT be what you expect. Specifically our ACIM participants do NOT want to continue the traditional face-to-face study groups unless a volunteer team leader wishes to step up to coordinate and make all the arrangements. The current DC program is preferred by active ACIM members in this group.
This could be an opportunity to practice principles of A Course In Miracles which include non-judgment, no condemnation, choosing to be happy no matter what, perceiving others as friends and allies who reflect the energy of Love, forgiveness and laughter. Celebrate and evolve happily while going through the spiritual process called life.
Some students of A Course In Miracles are also students of Dr. David R. Hawkins as well as many other spiritual books including Conversations with God. Come and share your spiritual insights with others in the community. You'll meet people from diverse backgrounds which is great for people who like people who are not only spiritual but also successful professionals, business owners, community leaders and nonprofit managers. (Repeat: please do NOT come if you are just looking for a traditional study group or have the expectation that we will be reading paragraphs in ACIM at the event because we do not do that at this event.)
WHO: THE THIRD SUNDAY COMMUNITY EVENTS ARE ORGANIZED BY ACIM STUDENTS and the Allies Team of volunteers and community builders FOR PEOPLE OF ALL BACKGROUND INTERESTED IN SPIRITUAL, ECONOMIC AND PERSONAL AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT.
WHEN: 12:30PM TO 2:30P ON THE THIRD SUNDAYS OF EACH MONTH. The restaurant will allow you to continue one-on-one to dinner time.
WHAT YOU ORDER. (Please register and donate to help with expenses of organizing this monthly event. Your donation of $5 online (at door $10) goes to the nonprofit 501c3 organization for this event. Please be prepared to order some food (self-pay). The restaurant graciously allow us to use the entire restaurant from 11AM to 5PM for this event.

If you wish to personally meet who you are chatting with online, then come to this 3rd Sunday community event which include ACIM teachers/students but mostly non-ACIM people. The event provides ACIM teachers/and students opportunity each month to connect and serve the community in Washington DC area This provides the opportunity to apply what you are studying and put the principles of ACIM into action to know and experience the loving miracle that you are: you are the Light of the world! (ACIM workbook lesson 81). Most of the Organizers of the 3rd Sunday community event (at One Fish Two Fish Asian Restaurant, 2423 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, DC 20037) are students/teachers of ACIM.
