A major topic in the current debates on AI in education (AIEd) focuses on both the opportunities and challenges of AI in the classroom, particularly involving students from minoritized groups or communities. The presentation consists of two parts. The first part of the presentation addresses key terms and concepts that have been used in two different fields: bias and ethics in AIEd and equity and justice in STEM education. The second part addresses research on equity and justice in STEM education with one minoritized student group, multilingual learners, and draws implications for bias and ethics with multilingual learners in AIEd. The presentation closes with a call for an integrated framework for key terms and constructs across the fields of AIEd and STEM education.
