What Happens When We Die?

This is quite an interesting discussion when it comes to A Course in Miracles.  The Course tells us that we are not actually bodies; we are minds, minds that we share with each other and God.  Our separate bodies are illusions of the ego.  Yes, we have bodies, but they do not physically contain our minds, (or souls), so when the body dies, the body physically decomposes, but the mind returns to God.  We have been taught to believe that the return to God is a physical return, meaning our souls go up into the sky or some other place where Heaven is.  But Heaven is not a physical location, it’s simply the result of dis-identifying with our ego, and so the mind can return to Heaven while we still live.  We do not have to die to join the mind of God.  When a loved one dies we go into deep sorrow because our ego misses theirs.  Their face, their body, their kindness, their individual personality are what we think they are and that’s what hurts, our attachment to their body and ego.  But their mind and soul never leave us because in fact they were never separate from us – and still aren’t -- not from the real us.

It is not necessary to read the book or have any prior knowledge of A Course in Miracles to participate and appreciate our discussion.  This Course is appropriate for beginners as well as the experienced.  For those who do want to study this in the book, please see the Text Chapter 6, V, Subsection A, To have, give all to all which in my edition is on page 104; also the Text Chapter 23, II, #19 There is no life outside of Heaven page 493 and finally in the Workbook, Lesson 152, The power of decision is my own.

Please note that although the word "Course" is in the title, you do not have to sign up for a series. Each meeting is an entity unto its own, so please come join us at any time. The cost of each individual class is $15, however if you pay for four classes in advance, it is $12.  The advance dates you pay for do not have to be consecutive dates.
