What we're about

Do you like keeping fit and active outdoors, or are you aspiring to? Are you looking to make some gay mates? This could be the group for you! We love to get out for walks, hikes, riding bikes, swimming and paddling. Add in a well earned cappuccino with lunch at the end and you've got a perfect morning.

The group is steadily growing, and has proven to be a great way to meet new people. We've been told that everyone is friendly and welcoming, and I have to agree with that statement!

Guide to Active Gay Mates

Most of the events are focused around activities of varying intensity from easy walks and hikes to longer and more difficult hikes. We find that this brings people together and gives us all something to talk about when we go for a coffee or lunch afterwards.

The group is a great way to meet people, and we find many members make friends through the group and end up organising their own social events outside the group, which is something we encourage. The group can be a springboard to widen your circle of friends.

Event Suggestions and Getting Involved

While we welcome suggestions and ideas for events, we tend to organise the types of events that we enjoy and have found to work well. If you're not seeing the type or quantity of events that you would like to attend we encourage you to get involved and help to organise them - just send Alan a message and we can have a friendly chat to work out the details. We're always on the lookout for capable organisers willing to help out so we can schedule more events than we personally have time to organise and attend. Enquire within!

Your participation in all events is at your own risk. You are responsible for your own safety.

Baxter Creek Falls Hike - Flaxton | Sunday Feb 06th

Flaxton Mill Road

We are well overdue for a Meetup so I've copied an event Alan put together last year which I feel we should do again to kick start 2022.

Walk to the Baxter Creek Falls return via a section of the Great Walk in the Northern section of the Kondalilla National Park.

The walk takes in an elevation of just over 400m so is steep in parts - here's a link to the route we will be taking https://ridewithgps.com/routes/29594219?privacy_code=jySksAeL575uZ6S9

The hike should take about 2.5 to 3.5 hours. Bring along water and a snack. There is no drinking water available at the site.

This is a Grade 4 walk "Walking experience recommended. Tracks may be long, rough and very steep. Directional signs may be limited.
