Where the journey is the Adventure!
From the heart of London to the Isle of Wight and back in a single day - by public transport, with 3 trains and 2 ferries! A coastal hike on an island famed for being one of the sunniest corners of the UK, and for its rich deposits of dinosaur fossils.
β οΈ NOTE: This event is only open to known/selected attendees that are flexible and understand the risks with such a tightly scheduled trip. There is always a chance of delays or missing a connection and being stranded on an Island! But youβll survive on this one! Please initially add yourself to the waitlist.

Schedule [if we make every connection in time!]:
π 8:30am: Waterloo > Train to Portsmouth Harbour > 10:02am
π³οΈ 10:15am: Ferry to Ryde Pier Head > 10:37
πΆπ» 11:00am: Hike to Shanklin ... [within 5 hours]
π 6:07pm: Train to Ryde Pier Head > 6:35pm
π³οΈ 6:45pm Ferry to Portsmouth Harbour
π 7:45pm Train to Waterloo > 21:22
ποΈ Train Tickets: It is best to purchase with a Network Rail Card or group disocunt (3+). Tickets differ in price for Group Discount (3+) and with Network Rail Card, working out Β£60.25 and Β£70.85 respectively (normal price is Β£89.80). This includes return for both trains and the ferry [Shanklin Return]. We will aim to purchase an Open Return on the day with those that have a Network Rail Card and can share (as it allows 4 people per Rail Card for discount). Please be prepared to pay people on the day at meetup time!

π§ Prayer: We will take a breaks on route.
π What to bring: appropriate clothing/boots, water bottle (at least 2L).
π₯ͺ Packed Lunch/Dinner and snacks.
π Advisable to have layers, you will get hot when hiking and cold when not - ability to put layeres on/off may keep you more comfortable.
π₯Ύ Hiking boots are highly recommended.
𧦠Double socks are a good tip for walking/hiking (reduces chance of blisters - if you don't have hiking socks).
ποΈ "No shows" for previous events may be moved to the waitlist/not going to prioritise reliable attendees / new joiners - when there is a waiting list, priority is given by attendance records / new joiners.
