Please describe the dog(s) you own: name, breed, age, sex, etc... so we can get to know a little more about our new pack member(s)!

Sal is a black lab/German shepherd mix, male, now about 5 years old. Loves to be around dogs and people, and a really happy guy despite some medical issues in the past. Best guess for Bonnie is that she's a Boxer/Rhodesian Ridgeback or other hound mix. She has learned to play well with other dogs, but is skeptical of new people. She's the hunter.

What are you looking for in a trail club? Describe what you hope to get out of the group and what can you contribute to the group.

I live and work in the city but love the outdoors and being active. Love seeing dogs enjoying nature and I like mingling with other dog owners and appreciating nature, myself. We like going out on our own but are looking for more serious group hikes that will push us all to our limits.

What does your ideal day outdoors involve? Please give the name and location of your favorite local hike or walk and describe the trail for us. Is it rocky, is there much elevation change, does it involve water, etc...

Anywhere to wear out the pups. We like hiking near rivers/streams/water the most.

Have you and your dog(s) earned any titles or are you working towards any titles? Agility, Canine Good Citizen (CGC), working dog, pack dog, water dog, therapy dog, etc... ???

Sal is working towards obtaining therapy dog certification. Bonnie would be good at agility but I haven't tried anything yet.

Introduction

I've lived in the DC-metro area for 7 years. Salvatore (Sal) and Bonita (Bonnie) are both flunk fosters... smart, adventurous and love outdoors.

What Becky R. is saying about this Meetup Group

Great way to meet other people with similar dog/hiking interests and for your dog to make new human and animal friends, learn, and travel in a pack. It's helped one of my dogs become more social.
