Don't let your git repo hit hundreds of megabytes of junk slowing down clones for your repo's and more. Michael will share his experience shrinking a nearly decade old bloated 400 MB repo down to 40 MB! and talk about how to avoid such a problem, including vendoring assets in gems.
Users have come to expect searching with spelling mistakes and getting what they want, but most general searches in sites don’t accomodate this. ElasticSearch can bring your project to meet these clients demands. ElasticSearch will get results for ‘John’ when a user types ‘Jon’ using fuzzy searching, and allows users to type ‘Ralf’ and get ‘Ralph' using SOUNDEX searches. Joseph's presentation will mainly focus on how you integrate ElasticSearch into your existing projects using ElasticSearch::Model.
Presentations start at 6:15 and aim to be wrapped up by 7:30. You're then invited to join us for dinner afterwards, most likely at the Ambassador.
