Macomb Orchard Trail Bike Ride

  • Apr 18, 2014 · 4:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Let's go for a bike ride on a paved Macomb Orchard trail.

Since it is Good Friday and a lot of people have a day off from work, let's start a little earlier.
This will be a 20+ mile ride and the pace should be moderate to fast - somewhere around 12 - 15 mph average.

(if you don't have any idea how fast that is, it will be TOO FAST for you!)

Below is the link to the trail map: http://www.orchardtrail.org/images/MOT%20Map%202009-w2.pdf

This is out and back ride, so once you are on the trail, there is no way to bail out!

Bring a spare tube with you and bike tools (if own them). (You would not want to walk your bike for 10 miles in case of a flat.). You also might want to bring a water bottle and a snack.

Helmet is required.

This event is cancelled if it rains or the weather forecast changes unfavorably. Therefore check the page before the event for possible updates.

Hope to see you there.

I'm in a meeting that is running way too long for Good Friday afternoon. I still hope to join you at 4:00, Rich, but don't wait for me.

I'm good with riding knowing the rain is done for the day.... But it's 55. I was REALLY looking forward to this ride but its too cold at this point. Unless the weather warms up or the sun comes out im going to back out.

    • Rich

I've been out twice this year - last week did 22 miles in pavement and some hills. I am wondering of this group is going to be too advanced with speed. I can keep moderate pace but not up to racing or fast pace. Is love to join.... Is there a break at a half way or are we in from start to finish?

What's moderate for you? ... It is different for different riders... We are not racers and when I lead I don't consider being very fast... But it is all relative...

A racing pace is well over 20mph. (Tour de France racers routinely cruise at 30+!) 12-14 is pretty moderate, and this trail is smooth and nearly dead flat. You'll be fine.
