Overnight: In a camp down by the river

Overnight in a camp down by the river. Snoqualmie Middle Fork river to be more accurate.

We will drive to the Middle Fork trailhead. Once we cross the river, we will turn East and go up the Middle Fork. Close to Dingford Creek, I know a great group camp area about a half mile off the trail. It's right on the river with great views of Garfield mountain. It's a large sandy area. Fires are allowed.

Length: 6 miles in 6 miles out

Elevation: +300 ft

Difficulty: Easy

Map: Green Trails 174 Mt. Si

Unless it's a nasty day, I plan to set up camp then hike North up the Middle Fork. I have not yet explored the Middle Fork past Dingford creek. You are welcome to join my on my exploration hike, or just hang back at camp and enjoy the scenery.

If you plan to meet at the trailhead instead of carpooling from Sno Valley Coffee, here are the directions. Do note it's a long, bumpy dirt road before the trailhead.

Directions: From Seattle drive east on Interstate 90. Take Exit 34 (signed 468th Avenue) and turn left. You will pass a truck plaza and convenience stores, then turn right on Road No. 56 (MiddleFork Snoqualmie Road). The road splits, but don't worry, they join up again. Go 11.8 miles to the Gateway parking area and MiddleFork trailhead.

Is anyone driving from seattle? I'm having some car issues and would love to carpool, if possible. I live in Ballard.

On second thought, I need to stay in town this weekend. Now that I'm throwing a bonfire Sat evening at Golden Gardens, I'm not going to be able to get up early enough for this.

Sorry for the short notice. Tomorrow is my bday, and folks started to freak when I mentioned I'm hiking...apparently there is a surprise party planned for me on Sat! Hahaha! I foiled them again! :). See you at the next one!!

Will need to sit this one out. My knee has been bothering me, too...

Hi, i would prefer to sleep in my car as it might rain , so how far is the parking from the camp site???

    May 19, 2013

    • Brent D.

The parking lot is 3.5 miles from the camp] site. Since the camping location is off trail, you would need to hike in with the group to know the location. People don't usually camp here.

I was planning on bringing my daughter, who is 8, but I didn't get a chance to rsvp+1. If this is not kid-friendly, or everyone else wants an adult-only camp, I can change my rsvp - just let me know.

You Daughter is welcome to join.

I hate to cancel because I was really looking forward to this trip and meeting everyone, but unfortunately I messed up my knee last week. Since I have a previous injury, I don't want to risk blowing it out until I can meet with a doctor. I hope you guys have a great trip and the weather holds out.

This sounds like fun. For those of you that want a campfire fix and are waitlisted (like me :)), I'm throwing a bonfire party at golden gardens sat eve the 25th. Here's a link: http://anyvite.com/htjioewnwd -Todd

Currently the weather forecast if 50/50 meaning the weatherman does not know for sure. Plan for rain, hope for sun.

    May 19, 2013

  • Kelly

Does anyone know what the weather will be like? And, is there anyone available who can give me a ride from either the West Seattle area or downtown Seattle please?

    May 17, 2013

  • Raj (.

My brother is visiting from Tennessee. Would love to show him there is more to Seattle than rain. If we get the second group going, we would love to join. I can drive and have all the passes.

    May 16, 2013

  • Jezanna

I'd be up for the second group option, or perhaps doing this one another weekend, like the following one.

Dang, another good one, but already committed elsewhere

    April 24, 2013

Is there any possibility of developing a 2nd group to camp in the same location?

    April 24, 2013

  • Yvonne

Do you know if dogs are allowed?
