Forecast for Cascades - Dishpan Gap/Lake Sally Ann area is for heavy rain Saturday and Sunday - ugh - not fun for backpacking; forecast for Olympics chance of rain so let's discuss the plan together. There are several options. What do you all want to do?
Thursday night - kind of late after work so meet at ferry - try to carpool to save ferry money - could meet at Lynnwood Transit Center around 4:20 and compact 2-3 people into a vehicle to save ferry and gas money.
Potential plan: stay at beach house Thurs night - enjoy sunset over Baker and the Strait of Juan de Fuca, walk the beach. If it looks good Friday, we could backpack one night - Boulder Shelter off the Dungeness gives us access to three trails or take the back door to Silver Lakes and explore around there - can even go to top of Townsend from there. Appleton Pass might be nice, but it's park so no dog plus need a permit so not as appealing to me this time. OR we just stay at house and bring/buy real food to share and do day hikes to Klahane Ridge/Heather Park and the back door to Silver Lakes plus beach hike. Depending on how many of us there are, I have four bikes at the house also.
Going Thurs eve and returning Sunday morning means less traffic on the ferry! **If we go to the beach house, my dog will come. We'll do day hiking and maybe an overnighter if only one night is supposed to be nice.
This one is crossposted as I'd like to have at least four of us. My experience is that most people drop out before the meetup or end up as no shows so I like to give a chance to people on a couple of meetups.
Bring: Forest Service parking pass/Park pass if you have one; money for ferry and gas, food contributions, wine, chocolate, wood for fire - allowed now, one roll of toilet paper; some sheets of paper towels each person; day pack, boots, poles, backpack should the weather cooperate for a one nighter, sleeping bag and towel for house so we don't need to do any laundry
