Plattekill Clove - AKA The Waterfall Hike - Folks Have Died Here!

  • This location is shown only to members

Hike up a steep narrow ravine, completely off trail, often in the water. Scramble up alongside waterfalls. Swim in numerous pools. A wonderful, exciting, and very dangerous hike. People have fallen off cliffs and died here.

I'm doing this hike with a few friends and want to keep the group size small.  If I have not hiked with you before and you really want to go, put yourself on the waitlist and  answer the RSVP questions completely so I can have some confidence in your ability to do the hike.

I think the water was higher than I've ever seen it, even a week after Hurricane Irene.

Great hike Rob, but when an organizer writes "Folks Have Died Here!" I will take it more seriously next time.
I hope to see all of you on more hikes, but I won't be back to the"Devil's kitchen"

John, it was great hiking with you again! Wish we could have chatted a bit more and thanks for your help with Sandra...much appreciated. I hope you didn't go to Baba Louie's...we all ended up bailing on it...big confusion, and I forgot to try to get in touch.

See you guys at McDonalds tomorrow at 10:30...weather looks nearly ideal. It's the McDolnald's right off the Suagerties exit from the Thruway. Remember, we will probably be hiking in water and spending some time swimming...prepare accordingly. Bring along some extra clothing in your pack just in case...consider wrapping it in plastic to keep it dry in case your pack gets wet. Plenty of food and water and everything else you would bring to be properly prepared for a day hike. More info here:
