Starting from this place - which is not a regular launching place - will give us quicker access to a beautiful natural area, with grasses and an actual beaver dam. This part of Falls Lake is also closed to motor boats.
The plan is to paddle for about 2 1/2 hours/ 3 hours at the most whith a little pause on dry ground.
From the stop light at the intersection of Hway 98 and Six Forks Road to the South, New Light Road to the North, travel North on New Light Road (around 3 miles) to old Weaver Trail road. Turn left on Old weaver Trail Road, travel a little over 1 mile and turn left again on an ummarked gravel road just before a bridge.
On the right side of this gravel road is a pond but there is a small access to the lake on the left hand-side. This road is a half circle road, leading back to the other side of the bridge but its central part, which gets flooded in time of high water, is all broken down. You won't need to go that far, w e will park our cars on the side of the gravel road and then take turn to launch our kayaks in the small opening on the side. Please make sure you don't leave anything valuable in your car.
You will need : sun lotion, snack, WATER and your life jacket.
The pace will be relaxed/slow.
This paddle is only open to adult kayak owners. Each participant is taking part into this activity at his/her own risk.
A contact number will be sent to each participant before the event.
