We'll start the day off with a picnic at the Loblolly Shelter @ 12:00 PM. Then at 1:00 PM we'll head out on a leisuely hike on the 5 mile Peninsula Trail which will take around 2 hours to complete. The trail will lead us on an adventure through a variety of forest habitats, around old farm ponds, and along the shores of beautiful Harris Lake. For the hike only, meetup at the parking lot nearest to the Peninsula Trail Head. The Loblolly Shelter and Trail Head are very near each other ... reference below.
Be sure to bring fluids to stay hydrated. Also use insect repellent .. it's now tick and chigger season.
A contact number will be sent to members who RSVP for this event.
If the bike trails are open, which I doubt due to all the rain this week, we'll also be cycling the single track trails. Not sure if we'll be cycling before or after the hike at this time. Will update if the trails are open.
