We will cycle the "Hot Dog Ride" which starts from the Black Creek Greenway parking lot across Maynard Road from Godbold Park in Cary and ends at Faircloth/Gorman and Hillsborough Streets in Raleigh where we'll stop for lunch at Snoopy's Hot Dogs . We will then retrace our route back to Godbold Park. The greenways and bike trail we will be riding are the following: Cary's Black Creek Greenway, Umstead State Park's Reedy Creek Trail, and Raleigh's Reedy Creek Greenway. The bike route consists of paved greenways and packed crushed stone roads. The round trip distance of the ride is about 28 miles. Meet at the Black Creek Greenway access parking lot across the street from Godbold Park located on Cary's NW Maynard Rd. Cycling helmets are strongly recommended for this ride. Reference the Hot Dog Ride Map to view the bike route. Due to the distance, heat, and hills (Five Turn & Cemetery in Umstead State Park) one must be in reasonably good condition to do this ride.
A contact number will be sent to members who RSVP.
