Trail crew at Mohican Center

Many of you said yes to trail maintenance when you sign up, now is the time to give back.

Come join a friendly, fun, and family-oriented trail crew.  No experience or special skills required, just a desire to give back to the trails in NJ and PA.  There are various types of trail maintenance opportunities for everyone.  First-timers are welcome!

While staying overnight at the Mohican Outdoor Center, the crew stays in a bunk-style cabin with kitchen.  Except for the optional dinner at $6.00, you are responsible for your own meals.  The entire crew helps with crew cabin chores while staying at MOC.

You can stay for Saturday, or Sunday or come up for the whole weekend.  In order to stay overnight for the trail crew please register for a bunk space at no cost by calling AMC   (908)[masked] Monday-Saturday  9am-5pm

Even though we work hard on the trail, back at MOC there is plenty of time to relax and enjoy camp. The Appalachian Trail, other scenic trails and a lake are easily accessible from camp.  On most Saturday nights, camp staff and local musicians meet in the main lodge to put on a show or just hang out, listen to stories or play games. You can expect to find the crew a friendly and fun group of people.  Many volunteers have been participating for years and welcome new faces.

The event was fantastic. I had a wonderful time and would definitely do it again. Check-in at the lodge was extremely easy and it was a pleasure meeting everyone on Friday. The cabin was comfortable and clean, with all the amenities you could want. After the tool talk on Saturday, the trail work began. Everyone was able to go at their own pace and there was no pressure to work too hard. It was really a fun time giving back to the trails and being able to use all of the various tools. There was plenty of time to relax, swim, and kayak on Saturday when we came back from the trail work. The dinner that only cost $6 on Saturday night was fantastic and had a wide variety of foods. The band that played in the lodge Saturday was excellent. The shortened work day on Sunday was perfect and allowed us to leave and get back home early. The people on the trail crew were extremely friendly and welcoming. I will definitely return and hope I can fit this into my schedule for the future.

I was very disappointed to have missed the trail crew this past week-end... my sister was hit by a car and has been in intensive surgical care at st. josephs hospital... she sustained extensive injuries - extensive fractures in her face and cheekbones, a fractured pelvis and broken leg in addition to head trauma.... I have been at the hospital the entire week-end and we still do not know how she will come out of this..... I am glad that all of you had a good time and I hope to join you on a future event.
