This is a 4 mile loop with various sites to see, such as ruins, small waterfalls, dam & reservoir & some huge rusted tanks (you will wonder how they got in there when you see just how big they are) There are some steep inclines & depending on the water level, crossing the stream can prove to be quite challenging. Needless to say hiking boots are definitely a must on this one. It is VERY IMPORTANT to dress in layers with the innermost layer being anything other then cotton, as cotton holds moisture & can significantly lower your body temp once it becomes wet. I highly recommend bringing a 2nd pair of socks in case your feet get wet crossing the stream. You will see the Apshawa Preserve parking lot once you turn on Northwood Dive. We will meet there. I'm estimating b/t 3-4 hours depending on our pace & how long we stop for lunch. What to Bring: 2 to 3 LITERS OF WATER PACK A SANDWICH OR SOME HEALTHY SNACK FOODS YOU LIKE TO EAT BUG SPRAY FOR TICS DRESS IN LAYERS HIKING BOOTS ARE MANDATORY ON THIS HIKE RAIN PONCHO
Cancellation notices: I will be monitoring the weather prior to the hike. ALWAYS CHECK YOUR EMAIL/SITE THE DAY BEFORE THE HIKE. In addition, make sure to check your email/site prior to leaving for the hike, cancellation notices will be sent prior to 8:30 am if required.
Can I bring my dog? Yes well behaved doggies are always welcome. Please keep them on a leash. I'm sure they find chasing the local wild life fun, but the wild life we may encounter don't think it is so much fun.
