Appalachian Trail - One Way Section Hike (Lusscroft Farm to Culvers Gap)

    Celebrate Spring on a beautiful section of the Appalachian Trail. Scenic views, interesting architecture and a public fire tower.

    Hike is for intermediate to advanced hikers. (Steep incline at beginning of hike; 500 ft. elevation.)Time: Approximate: 4.5-5 hrs. depending on breaks for scenic views and lunch.

    We will pass through scenic Sunrise Mountain for lunch at the open air pavilion. This is the second highest elevation point in New Jersey. (Hike is 8.7 miles in length.)

    1. START: Meet at restaurant Blue Ribbon Restaurant parking lot.

    2. Drive 1 mile to Appalachian Parking Lot at Culvers Lake. This location is the end of hike. Here we will determine how many cars are needed to drive to starting point at Lusscroft Farm.

    3. Drive to Lusscroft Farm and start hike at the Blue Explorer Trail which meets the Appalachian Trail (AT). We hike 8.7 miles to the Culvers Lake AT Parking Lot. (End of Hike)

    4. Hikers are driven back to their cars at Lusscroft Farm.

    Weather: Light rain okay. Heavy rain cancels. Check this site for updates.

    Equipment: Sturdy hiking shoes. Appropriate weather gear. Water (at least 2 liters). Snacks, lunch & hiking poles, camera. Good conversation. Positive and environmentally friendly attitude.
