Update 6/18: This hike is very popular, so I increased the group size to 24. At the trailhead, we will split into two groups (fast and slow). I will lead the slow group, and the other will not have an official leader. You can't get lost, since there are no side trails to the summit.
The fire lookout is now open! It was locked up for the winter, but not any more.
--------------------------------------------
TLDR list:
- Mileage (round trip): 5.4 miles
- Pace: slow
- Elevation gain: 2,300 feet
- Max elevation: 5,327 feet
- Difficulty level (scale of 1-5): 4
- Useful equipment: Trekking poles, gaiters, microspikes
- If carpool passenger: Pay driver $5 for gas
- Parking Pass: NW Forest Pass (NOT the Discover pass)
- WTA hike description: https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/mount-pilchuck

Get ready for a fantastic view! You can see for miles at the summit. Some of the sights include the central Cascades (including Glacier Peak), the Olympics, San Juan Islands, Mt. Rainier, and (on a clear day) downtown Seattle. There's also a no longer used fire lookout at the summit.

The trail is not too difficult, but there will be snow. Bring trekking poles, gaiters, and microspikes.

Note that we are meeting at 7 AM!! The trail is very popular, so we need to arrive early in order to find parking.

If you are driving, I strongly recommend a high clearance vehicle such as a Subaru. The road is full of potholes. That said, a regular car can make it, but only if they go slowly.

Don't hold me to the 3 PM return time. That is only my best guess.

We will meet at the South Everett Park & Ride at 7 AM. I drive a gray Nissan Xterrra (an SUV). I will meet you on the east side (the side facing I-5's northbound lanes). I will try to park in the middle of the east side. We will then carpool to the trailhead. If you are a passenger, I ask that you give 5 dollars to your driver.

BTW, I apologize for posting on a non-Tuesday, but I will be out of town (hiking, of course) next Tuesday.

Important: If you are on the Going list but you cannot attend, please change your RSVP to No (or contact me), so that people on the waitlist have a chance to go. If you fail to cancel, I will list you as a No Show (unless there are mitigating circumstances).
