Announcing a new Meetup for Seattle Get up Get on Out!

What: Off Road bicycle touring camping ride on the Iron Horse Trail

When: Saturday, November 6,[masked]:00 AM

Where: Northwest Railway Museum
E McClellan St
North Bend, WA 98045

The weather forecast is showing sunshine for the weekend.

For anyone that has been procrastinating a bike tour because they haven't really tried their gear out, this could be the trip, we'll meet in North Bend and ride up to Rattlesnake Lake on the Snoqualmie Trail where we'll meet the Iron Horse Trail. It's a very scenice route with nice views of the mountains. We'll ride about 25 miles before stopping to camp at one of the designated backcountry campsites along the trail,. With the tunnel closed, we can't use the trail to go all the way to the east side of the mountains, we'll save that for another trip and another time.

This is a pretty simple route, you just need to bring a bicycle that is in decent shape, touring bikes, cyclocross bikes, hybrids and mountain bikes are best suited to the crushed rock and dirt path, race bikes tend not to work very well once you load your gear on to the bike. We'll leave North Bend at 10am on Saturday and return at about 10am on Sunday. I'll bring a group cook kit and we'll do group meals and I'll assign the meal teams once I know who is going. It generally becomes more like a gourmet cooking trip with biking and camping ;-) I do have a couple of loaner bikes and some extra camping gear if someone needs to borrow equipment. Questions? email me - [address removed] or call my cell #[masked]

I am bring a group[ cook kit but you need to bring your own stuff to eat off of (plates, cups, spoons, forks, etc.)
